Michael Shapiro’s works have been performed worldwide, with premieres broadcast on NPR, BBC, and CBC. Renowned for his “rare melodic gift” (New York Times), his diverse catalog includes over 100 compositions for orchestra, opera, film, and television. His music has been recorded on Naxos and Paumanok Records, and he has collaborated with legends like Barbra Streisand, Marin Alsop, and Sir Malcolm Arnold.  

A Brooklyn native, Shapiro has served as music consultant to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and conducted internationally, including the world premiere of his score for Frankenstein. He holds degrees from Columbia University and Juilliard, studying under distinguished mentors like Vincent Persichetti and Elie Siegmeister, and continues to bring his artistry to audiences worldwide.
